Olivia D. Hannon Cichon, MA, LAC, MAC
Olivia chose her career as a Behavioral Health Provider / Counselor when she was a teenager after witnessing the gap between conventional medicine and mental health while a family member recovered from a traumatic brain injury. In an effort to connect the two fields, Olivia dedicated her undergraduate and graduate studies to biopsychology at the University of Colorado and Pepperdine University.
Concurrently, Olivia lived abroad for three years in Spain and Peru, gaining fluency of the Spanish language and served as a Community Health Peace Corps Volunteer.
Since her return in 2008, Olivia has been working as a Behavioral Health Provider, using mind-body techniques to help both Spanish and English speakers to overcome both physical and emotional suffering from addiction, chronic pain, grief, trauma, cultural adjustment, and life transition. Olivia is a professional member of Psychology Today and the Colorado Counseling Association.
Meaning behind Olive Tree Counseling, LLC
The rich history of the tree that shares Olivia's namesake and spirit is shown through this story:
Thousands of years ago, caravans traveling from different countries passed through the Middle East. Fights often broke out, but the common rule was to lay down their weapons when beneath an olive tree.
Olivia has always striven to create a calming presence that allows a peaceful haven for clients to "lay down their weapons". It is when a person feels safe enough to lower defenses that emotional changes can take place.
